Emillie Fieck – Boarding
I came to work in boarding after searching for Veterinary related experience. I am currently a student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks perusing a degree in Veterinarian Medicine so upon seeing an availability at Noah’s Ark, it was an opportunity I could not pass up.
Even in the boarding facility, the joy of taking care of animals is the main satisfaction of working here. I get to arrive and tend to all sorts of pets. Most importantly, the idea of providing quality care for these creatures and someone else’s family is rewarding. I treat each animal as if it were my own.
Since I was a child, I have always dreamed of being in the Veterinary field. I have naturally gravitated towards helping animals. I was raised reading animal care work inspired books and any Veterinary related shows out of fascination. One of the most influential became the Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Colorado. I always said I would become a Veterinarian just like Dr. Fitzgerald did from Colorado State Univeristy.
In my family, I became the one that would help any animal in need. Several occasions of stray animals wandering to my house and taking care of them have occurred. Eventually our family had a kennel just in case another animal was in need. One of the most interesting was probably a wandering old rooster that I eventually found a home for.
I have lived in Alaska my whole life mostly in Valdez with my folks and sister. Only recently I moved to Fairbanks for school. At home I have a sweet 8 year old Irish Setter named Luna we adopted off Craigslist as a puppy and a 10 year old Calico mix cat that was also adopted as a kitten.
