My name is Rachael Castro. I was born and raised on my family’s farm in a small country town in Northern Idaho. I knew at a young age I had a love for animals. Growing up we had dogs, cats, and cattle, being our main livestock. A few of them even became apart of our family! I moved to Fairbanks Alaska with my two children Kaelynn and Kelsey in 2003, Kaelynn now 18, and Kelsey 17. Through the years we were involved with 4-H and many non-profit organizations. My girls and I volunteered at the the animal shelters in Matanuska-Susitna Valley and in Fairbanks.
Evolving my children at a young age has also expanded their love for animals. My youngest Kelsey fell in love with horses, and Kaelynn has a love for all animal’s dogs being her favorite. Our family soon grew and I gained a great partner, Rodney and a daughter Amanda, now 18. We also have a golden retriever named Maggie and a yorkie named Buddy. We have spent many weekends as a family with our pets in tow hunting, fishing, boating, and exploring in this great state we have all grown to love. Rodney and I have enriched our children’s lives as much as our own. I joined the wonderful family at Animal House June of 2016. Everyday is a new exciting experience of meeting new people and their furry, sometimes feathered or scaly friends and family members. I am constantly learning something new everyday and and enjoy every minute of it!
